I rarely read news these days and on days I read them I get to see 'custmoers' eating fish in this article on BBC website.

Thankfully, this is only a typographical error and not a sample of ignorance like this one.

Rough leg tubes?

The TN government has announced privileges and goodwill for Tamil language movies with Tamil titles. On these lines, when ஜில்லுனு ஒரு காதல் (jillunu oru kAdhal) was changed to சில்லுனு ஒரு காதல (chillunu oru kAdhal), Poet Vaali pointed out that 'chill' was an English word and that a Tamil title was changed to one with an English entry. Point.

Shankar is planning to re-release "Jeans". He considered changing its name to "சீன்சு" to have a title without borrowed sounds and letters like ஜீ and ஸ். But, considering how close "சீன்சு"(seensu) sounds to 'scenes' (an English word and hence, avoidable), Shankar is considering translating "Jeans" to Tamil as "முரட்டு கால்குழாய்கள்" (rough leg tubes). Good luck!

Next, பெ. குமரன் (பெரிய திருமகளின் மகன்) - pe. Kumaran, periya thirumagaLin magan - aka M. Kumaran, S/o Mahalakshmi.

Double whammy!

Shortly after his wife completed the requirements for her Ph. D., my b-i-l completed his. The irony is: Two doctors, neither of them is a physician.

Is this a quadruple pun?

Shas has this liking for triple puns. Wondering if this will make the cut for a quadruple pun (a bit of a stretch, I admit) inspired by my daughter's question on "rain deer for Santa Claus" :

A woman was in a lonely ranch was cleaning her stable before Christmas. She was bracing herself for the change of season and fortune with the advent of the Chinese New Year. She stopped working and stared blankly for a while.

Her daughter asked, "What is it, mom?". The woman replied, "It is the rain, dear"*.

* For those who didn't get it, the variations are:
- The reindeer (that would march down her chimney)
- The rain deer (that would seek shelter in the stable)
- The reign, dear (of the Year of the Pig)

Tried to make it a quintuple with "rained ear" (or "reined ear"). Assistance will be appreciated.
